Projects List
This screen is used to browse the entire Projects list, based on a
chosen sort order. The list will be split across several pages, each with the
maximum number of entries (value defined globally for the application -- see
Global Definitions File), to avoid saturating the browser when dealing with very long lists.
Controls are available to navigate between the different segments of that
list.
This screen also serves as the main entry point to the creation and edition
of individual Projects.
For further information about the creation, edition and management of
Project objects, please refer to the Projects Edition Page and the Projects Management Workflow.
From the Main Application Menu (or indeed almost any other Project Hirtius page),
click on the "Manage Projects" icon in the header
().
Each entry in the list will use the following layout:
obj_id anchor |
name |
created date |
by user |
RS: RSlink |
Lang. |
tid_count TIDs |
[actions] |
short_desc |
For the description, format and meaning of each field, please refer to the
Projects Edition Page. A few words on those that are not defined
there or need extra clarification:
- anchor:
- A globe icon () that will lead you to
the current project's TiddlyWiki interface. This is where you will be able to
view, create and edit all Tiddlers linked with that project. See
Tiddlers (Embedded TiddlyWiki) for a full description of that interface.
- RSlink:
- A link to the INXtree Browser that will open it on the node that has been
selected as the entry point for that project's internal structure. Using
this link you can easily browse, maintain and enhance that structure. Also
available on the Projects Edition Page in 'view' mode.
- tid_count:
- The number of Tiddlers contained in that particular project.
The first row of controls beneath the page header allows the user to
select the desired sort order for the list. The currently active sort order
is rendered as text, whereas all other available choices are rendered
as HTML links. Here are the three available choices:
- by project#: (default). Ordered by increasing
project ID.
- by name: ordered by increasing name.
- by date: ordered by increasing creation date.
Selecting a different sort order always returns you to the top of the
list (as defined by that order).
The second row of controls beneath the page header allows the user to
navigate the Projects list based on the currently selected sort order
(see above). Some action links (prev
and next) may be rendered as text when not applicable.
Here are the available actions:
- First: jump to top of list (first record).
- Prev: show previous page (i.e. previous chunk of 'N'
records, where 'N' is a value defined in the Global Definitions File).
- All: show all records on a single page. Depending on the
length of the list, this may be more than your browser can handle, and it
may make it crash.
- Next: show next page (i.e. next chunk of 'N' records,
where 'N' is a value defined in the Global Definitions File).
- Last: jump to bottom of list (last record).
For really large collections (10.000 projects or more), this navigation
method will show its limits. The larger your project collection, the more
you should rely on the search interface or the project management features
to locate your slides. For more details, see Navigation Tips.
For each Project in the list, the first and last columns of its
row contain links that correspond to actions to be performed on the
Project object.
- Project ID: the Project ID (left-most column) is a link
that opens the Projects Edition Page in view mode for the selected Project.
- Globe icon: In the first column, just below the project ID,
you'll find a globe icon () that will lead
you to the current project's TiddlyWiki interface. This is where you will be
able to view, create and edit Tiddlers linked with that project. See
Tiddlers (Embedded TiddlyWiki) for a full description of that interface.
- Edit: opens the Projects Edition Page in edit mode for the selected
Project. This action link is disabled for closed projects.
- Reopen: opens the Projects Edition Page in reopen confirmation
mode for the selected Project. You can then confirm to proceed with
the reopening or cancel it and return to the list. This action link is
disabled for open projects.
- Report: opens the Projects Report Page for the selected Project.
This action link is disabled unless the structure container node field
has been set (entry point to the project report structure in the INXtree).
- Del: opens the Projects Edition Page in delete confirmation mode
for the selected Project. You can then confirm to proceed with the
deletion or cancel it and return to the list. Please note that deleting a
project also removes all the Tiddlers that it contains, all their
past versions, and all attached metadata.
In addition to this, a global action is available on the last row
(bottom right corner) of every segment of the list:
- Add: opens the Projects Edition Page in add mode (displays a blank
HTML form to be filled in order to create a new Project record).
The following controls can be used to customize the information displayed in
the list:
- Hide Closed Projects checkbox: by default, whether or not
closed projects are hidden within the Projects List is controlled by a user
preference (set from the Users Edition Page). The present checkbox serves both as a
reminder of your current choice for that parameter, and as a way to override
that choice temporarily while on the current page.
