INXtree Browser
(Could also be called Categories List.)
This screen is used to browse the entire INXtree structure.
This screen also serves as the main entry point to the creation and edition
of individual Categories (i.e. nodes in this hierarchical structure).
For further information about the creation, edition and management of
Category objects, and of the INXtree as a whole, please refer to
the Categories Edition Page and the Concepts page.
From the Main Application Menu (or indeed almost any other Project Hirtius page),
click on the "Manage Index" icon in the header
().
Each entry in the list will use the following layout:
|
|
inode* (count) |
[actions] |
For the description, format and meaning of each field, please refer to the
Categories Edition Page. A few words on those that are not defined
there or need extra clarification:
- ./buttons in the first 2 columns:
- Navigation controls -- see below.
- inode:
- The category name. When followed by a star ('*'), a comment has been
entered for that category. Hover your mouse over its name to get it displayed
as a tooltip. Comments that are longer than '$max_ttip_len' char.
(see Global Definitions File) will be trucated and suffixed with '...' to
denote the truncation.
- count:
- The number of objects that are attached to the current category (strict
match in this case, objects attached to sub-nodes of the current category
are ignored).
The first column (or second column, depending on the page shown and the
contents of the row) contains round blue ./buttons that you should click to
navigate the hierarchical structure of the INXtree. Here is their
function:
- : "opens" the category listed
on that row and shows all sub-nodes (sub-categories) that it contains. The
selected category will be shown on the first line of the next screen. Allows
you to drill down your tree.
- : located only on the first
line of any screen, except for the top-most view (the "root" of the tree).
Returns you one level above in the tree.
Please note that the current implementation of this tree navigation has been
done using pure HTML and without any cookie tricks or anything similar.
This means that at present, you can only expand a single category at a time.
For each Category in the list, the last two columns of its row
contain links that correspond to actions to be performed on the
Category object.
- Category name: the Category name (or inode,
column before last) is a link that opens the Categories Edition Page in view mode for
the selected Category.
- Link: opens the Object Selector in a new windows. Allows you to
attach more fully-fledged objects (of any supported type) to the current
category.
- Edit: opens the Categories Edition Page in edit mode for the selected
Category.
- Copy: opens the Category Selector in a new window (to let you
select the target for the copy), followed by the Categories Edition Page in copy
confirmation mode for the selected Category (use it to copy an
entire sub-tree below another node).
- Move: opens the Category Selector in a new window (to let you
select the target for the move), followed by the Categories Edition Page in move
confirmation mode for the selected Category (use it to move an
entire sub-tree below another node).
- Del: opens the Categories Edition Page in delete confirmation mode
for the selected Category. You can then confirm to proceed with the
deletion or cancel it and return to the list. Please note that deleting a
category will recursively delete all sub-categories it contains, but will
not remove any object that might be attached to any of these
categories.
In addition to this, a global action is available on the last row
(bottom right corner) of every segment of the list:
- Add: opens the Categories Edition Page in add mode (displays a blank
HTML form to be filled in order to create a new Category record).
At the bottom of the page, between the Categories list and the page
footer, a small secondary menu is located that will give you access to pages
related to the task at hand (such as reports on your INXtree),
pages that are not directly reachable through the header toolbar.
Here are the menu entries in question:
