This screen is used to browse the entire list of objects, for any of the supported fully-fledged object types, and then select an entry to attach it to an INXtree node (aka "category"). In this way, it manages the same relationship as the Object - Category Edition Page, but starting from the category instead of from the object. It is always displayed as a pop-up dialogue (that is to say that it opens as a new window or tab).
Selectors are purpose-built screens that are not reachable through the general navigation of the application, but only by clicking on specific action links on certain screens. Here are the places and actions that will trigger the display of this selector, and the context of its use:
The fields displayed obviously vary depending on the object type currently listed in the selector window (see the "object type selector" section below). In most cases, they are the same as the native list screen for that object type.
Same as on the Slides List (minus the "actions" column).
Same as on the Sources List (minus the "actions" column).
Same as on the Individuals List (minus the "actions" column).
Same as on the Families List (minus the "actions" column).
Same as on the Events List (minus the "actions" column).
Each entry in the list will use the following layout:
obj_id | title | project_name | author | last mod. date |
For the description, format and meaning of each field, please refer to the Tiddlers (Embedded TiddlyWiki) and Projects Edition Page.
In the centre of the page header is the object type selector toolbar, composed of the following icons:
Displays the Slides list.
Displays the Sources list.
Displays the Individuals list.
Displays the Families list.
Displays the Events list.
Displays the Tiddlers list. |
Click on any of them to adapt the contents of the Object Selector window and reach the object type you are interested in.
The first row of controls beneath the page header allows the user to select the desired sort order for the list. The currently active sort order is rendered as text, whereas all other available choices are rendered as HTML links. For all object types except Tiddlers (see below), the available choices will be the same as on the native list screen for that object type.
Selecting a different sort order always returns you to the top of the list (as defined by that order).
Here are the available choices on the Tiddlers list:
The second row of controls beneath the page header allows the user to navigate the object list based on the currently selected sort order (see above). Some action links (prev and next) may be rendered as text when not applicable.
Here are the available actions:
For each object listed on the screen, whatever its type, simply click on its ID (first column) to select it. If the event is not eligible (because it is already linked, for instance), its ID is rendered as regular text and can't be clicked, and a capital "X" is added next to it. Clicking on the "X" unlinks the object in question from the selected category.
