The Country Codes Management Page

Purpose

This screen is used to list Country Code records. "Country Codes" appear as choices in a drop-down select control on the Slides Edition Page, Events Edition Page, Individuals Edition Page and Families Edition Page (as well as a few others) and allow the user to specify the geographical location of the object he's dealing with.

This data has been initially imported into Project Hirtius from a publically available CSV file and is part of the default installation. One extra row has been added specifically for this application: the "Unspecified" entry.

Since this data is not liable to change very often, it is assumed that any such change would be carried out manually by the administrator straight in the backend database. If you ever need to refresh this data (i.e. upload a newer version of the official list), these are the important points you need to keep in mind:

Project Hirtius uses the 2-character country code as key to link between this table and the object tables. So any change in the name of a country is always transparent.
Addition of new entries are always straightforward.
If any entry is removed in future lists, you should first check whether any object references that entry and update it manually to maintain the integrity of your database.

Getting There...

The Country Codes management screen is not available straight from the Main Application Menu. To reach it:

From the Main Application Menu (or indeed almost any other Project Hirtius page), click on the "Manage Users" icon in the header ().
Scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on the Country Codes link located on the right, between the Users List and the page footer. This gets you to the Country Codes Management Page.

Controls

In List mode

You can control the sort order of the list by clicking on the column header you want to use as key. The currently active sort key (Country, by default) is rendered in plain italics, whereas other available keys are rendered as hyperlinks.
